Born out of their devotion to noise music, riffs and simplistic rainbow choruses, GORZ’s first self-titled album introduces 7 songs that encapsulate the core elements of their dreamt up genre known as “cutecore”; a fast-changing mix of elements between heavy hard riffs and sweet naive pop features.
With their first single ''try me'' GORZ broke through with a track full of irony and harsh exclamations against the mastery of pinkwashing and the utility of the female body. Screaming ‘’wear me as a fur coat’’, the duo creates a tension between hardcore and pop punk. GORZ's songs range from intense grindcore to cheesy glittery naive colorful nu metal vibes.
“Our love”, the second single of GORZ sings with a frenzy, rushed and choked voice about the zombification of people under the grasp of rightwing politics. Yet with the tenderness that characterizes them.
Coming from the fields of experimental and improvised noise music, the duo began their process by improvising freely. Drawing inspiration from early Nina Hagen band, the world of Cibo Matto, Deerhoof’s naive vocal melodies and mainstream songs from the 90ies, GORZ developed their first songs while touring South America. With little resources and a DIY spirit, they recorded those songs with a cheap analog drum machine, an audio interface and some guitar nerdry. Soon the tracks were finished and they started to perform them in Europe before their release.
GORZ’s live experience brings together drama, harshness and irony. With the contrast of latinx and european backgrounds, their performances are loaded with unapologetic sounds and an attitude brought to the stage with care and experimentation. Switching from Spanish to English to muttering, their cathartic music grasps an ever changing audience and can be found in jazz stages, to noise, contemporary music festivals or your favorite basement.

ABOUT

GORZ consists of Lara Alarcón (ARG/DE) on vocals, Cyrill Ferrari (CH) on guitar, and drum machine which, in live contexts, occasionally switches to real drums. Their long collaboration includes several trips with the DeutscheBahn, some transatlantic flights and plenty of scouting nights in cities like Berlin, Bern, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and more. This can be heard in their intense and hyperactive music. Their language touches genres such as noise rock, grindcore, electronics and a genre they like to call <3 cutecore . Their music performances are loaded with fresh frenesi and go from mellow and cute, to harsh and impulsive. The duo has toured South America and Europe, where it is very active in the young underground scene, powered by the argentinean/swiss label Neue Numeral.
